Hi WD; Glad to hear someone else gets a sore tail. I can go about 1 tank, then I have to get off. You are right, the stock seat is not good enough. When the Harley's came out with their "K" models in 1952, I bought a sraight K which was a 45 cu in flat head side valve. It had soft rear suspension, a single seat bucket style, looked something like an old fashioned tractor seat, but it was leather covered with some kind of light padding. The important thing was that it had two spring loaded piston type cylinders under it and the seat was hinged on the front so that it "rocked" up and down. The pegs were under the rider and the handlebars were "buckhorn" style. This combination made for a long and comfortable ride. I took a trip up to Allegheny State Forest Park in New York State one weekend from my home in Pennsylvania, it was 600 miles all around in two days, and I did not get sore at all. I have never found another motorcycle that I could stay on as long as that '52 Harley K. I sure wish I could find some kind of seat like that for my Savage. Nice talking to you, see you around.
